ROGUE PLANET DATABASE ACCESSED

A rogue planet is an intersetller body that does not orbit a star. Our current understanding holds that rogue planets originate from planetary systems and are ejected at a later point in time.

This definition can be likened to many Fediverse platforms using the ActivityPub protocol. Several of the most pouplar platforms specifically set out to copy the feel of an existing centralized website or social media platform.

ACTIVITYPUB AND THE FEDIVERSE

The Fediverse, or Federated Universe, is a collection of web apps that all speak the same language, that being a protocol called ActivityPub. Any app speaking the ActivityPub protocol can interact with content from other apps speaking the protocol. This isn't fully univsersal; FunkWhale, as an example, can only communicate with Mastodon and other FunkWhale instances, but this functionality is a big draw for many users.
